If you’re tired of your current wall color (or colors) and you’ve been extra stressed recently, you may want to think about changing up the paint choices in your home. This way, you’ll get the change you’re striving for, and have the opportunity to lessen the extra tension you’ve been carrying around with you. This can especially help in a home office.

Believe it or not, the colors of your wall really do have the potential to affect your mood. You want to choose a soothing color that will mitigate the effects of stress, rather than colors that would exacerbate it.

Having a less expensive electricity bill might also save you a bit of stress. We all need good lighting, and it’s a stress-reducing home improvement project that’s fairly easy to tackle.

#3 – Separate your home and work-life

Whether you work from home completely or only have a little bit of paperwork you bring back home, the thought of work so close can be somewhat stress-inducing. Sometimes I find myself waking up and remembering that I have work that needs to be done. And then I stress about it so much that I inevitably begin to work on it. Then I look at the clock ten minutes later and see that it’s three o’clock in the morning.

How can you reduce this stress that keeps you from sleeping, or relaxing, efficiently?

The best way is to put a physical separation between you and your stress-inducing work.

If you have money and space to invest, you can always add an extra wall or build an addition to your home. If you’re like me, and you’d like to limit your spending, simply putting some curtains up in a room to designate an office space will do.

DIY tip! Another alternative could be to put your projects in a container, bag, or cabinet in order to keep it out of sight. This physical separation can really give you peace of mind. Doing this home improvement could be something that greatly reduces the stress you feel while you’re at home.

#4 – Declutter and make space for you

If you don’t have the money or space to build new rooms, an alternative can be to make space and declutter. Cutting down on clutter around your home can greatly relieve stress.

Several ways to make space include:

  • Getting cheap containers to put away things you aren’t currently using
