What is Safeco RightTrack?

The Safeco RightTrack program is a usage-based insurance service that provides a discount for Safeco and Liberty Mutual customers. RightTrack’s deals are issued based on your driving habits.

By definition, Safeco RightTrack is a pay-how-you-drive insurance (PHYD) program. However, RightTrack provides a discount for good driving behavior rather than giving you a monthly rate.

How does Safeco RightTrack work?

There are three ways you can access Safeco RightTrack, which are through OBD-II port telematics, a Safeco RightTrack Bluetooth beacon, or the Safeco RightTrack mobile app.

When you enroll in the Safeco RightTrack program, you’ll get a five percent discount. But you can receive up to 30% off if you have good driving habits.

Safeco RightTrack monitors four specific behaviors, which are:

  • Acceleration
  • Braking
  • Miles driven (must drive over 125 miles)
  • Nighttime driving

After you sign up, Safeco RightTrack tracks these behaviors for 90 days. When the monitoring is complete, RightTrack will report your overall score, and your discount is issued.

Safeco RightTrack isn’t available everywhere in all its forms. According to the Safeco website, RightTrack’s mobile app service isn’t available for Arkansas, California, Washington D.C., Delaware, Hawaii, and North Carolina customers.

New York customers are limited to Safeco RightTrack’s plug-in telematics device. All other states have one or more ways they can use RightTrack.

How does Safeco RightTrack affect Safeco car insurance rates?

Discounts lower the cost of your auto insurance policy. The same goes for Safeco RightTrack. Even if you get a poor score from the RightTrack discount, you’ll still receive a deal.

Let’s compare Safeco RightTrack’s discount on Safeco auto insurance vs. Safeco auto insurance without a RightTrack discount.

  • Safeco Car insurance rates w/ RightTrack discount – $75 to $101/month
  • Safeco car insurance rates w/o RightTrack discount – $106/month

The monthly rates are very cost-efficient. If you’re a good driver, you can secure affordable Safeco RightTrack discount insurance.

In other words, you can secure cheaper Safeco RightTrack car insurance by driving safely.

Safeco RightTrack is free. Therefore, you don’t buy Safeco RightTrack. Since you can’t buy it, you won’t have to worry about Safeco RightTrack quotes.

If you’re concerned about Safeco RightTrack rates, then you should focus on maintaining an excellent driving score during the RightTrack monitoring period.

Is Safeco RightTrack a good usage-based car insurance program?

As much as we would like to answer that question, the best way to find out is to look at what current and former customers say about Safeco RightTrack.

The latest Google Play ratings show Safeco RightTrack has a 4.0-star rating. Meanwhile, customers of the Apple App Store gave Safeco RightTrack a 4.6-star rating.

Although Safeco RightTrack has above average mobile app ratings, it may not be for everyone. Let’s look at Safeco RightTrack’s pros and cons as you consider whether it’s right for you.
